Terry Crews: The Problematic Negro
I’m not going to take the sophomoric route to call Terry Crews names.
Nope. Won’t do it. I’m not going to call Terry Crews a Coon. Not going to say that he typifies modern day black face. No. I’d like to go there, but I won’t say that Terry Crews is an unfortunate present day adaptation of a Hollywood porch monkey.
What I will say and strongly attest to, is that Terry Crews is a problematic Negro.
I’ve never paid much attention to Terry Crews. I’ve only known him as a moderately funny actor with a penchant for playing off the wall, slightly creepy, characters.
As of late though, Terry Crews has shown exactly who is he is when it comes to how he views race relations. We see where he stands and unfortunately, it isn’t with us. Terry Crews does not stand with Black people who are demanding equality.
This man is a problematic Negro.
Terry Crews, Gabrielle Union and America’s Got Talent
Terry Crews, the problematic Negro, first shows his true colors.
Gabrielle Union made allegations of racism and misconduct against the producers of America’s Got Talent including Simon Cowell.
When Terry Crews was asked about his own experience on America’s Got Talent, he completely invalidates Gabrielle Union’s account. Instead of protecting her, as a woman of color – a sister, this problematic negro throws Gabrielle Union under the bus, if you will. He shows absolutely no support for a fellow, Black actress. After intense backlash, Terry Crews does apologize to Gabrielle Union, but it doesn’t matter. The problematic Negro known as Terry Crews, continues to wreak havoc.
Terry Crews Black Supremacy Tweet
Black Supremacy? Is that even a “thing?” Serious question.
In the wake of the murder of George Floyd, Terry Crews, the problematic Negro tweets: “Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together.”
Unlike Terry, I’m actually educated, so his tweet begs the question: How can we as African Americans in this country be Black supremacist when we are a marginalized people in America?
According to Terry Crews, the danger of Black Supremacy is real. But Terry, what about the years of slavery that gave way to white supremacy that has terrorized Blacks for years? The fact is, this problematic thinking doesn’t take into account that Black Supremacy does not exist due to systematic racism. I wish this man would look beyond his own need for acceptance at the hands of the colonizers to read a book and become enlightened.
Terry Crews Black Lives Matter Tweet
Terry Crews’ most recent tweet: “We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter.”
When was there ever a danger of Black Lives Matter morphing into Black Lives Better?
Listen – you problematic and unfortunate Negro. As a woman and a Black mother of two Black boys, I just want equal treatment. I need to know that my children’s lives are valued just as much as their white friends. Can I send my oldest son to the store for an Arizona Iced Tea and Skittles without planning a funeral? That’s not Black Lives Better you imbecile, it’s Black Lives Matter. As in, the lives of my Black children mean just as much as the life of a white child. The only people pushing supremacy are your people. Not us. Black people in this country demand equality.
Terry, don’t worry, the fear of black supremacy that keeps you up at night is non-existent. It’s a fairy tale. This country’s roots is deep seeded in racism, therefore, the people YOU feel rejected by – which would be us Blacks, will never hold enough power to be politically, or socioeconomically more powerful than the white racist ankles you choose to cling to.
The Roots of the Problematic Negro
I understand the roots of Terry Crews’ problematic thinking. It comes from insecurity and rejection.
Terry Crews strikes me as the guy who always wanted to be accepted by his peers, but was never.
I get the sense Terry Crews has zero swag. He was the corny guy, who, despite his best efforts, never quite fit in.
Years later, after he vows to make it as a mediocre actor at best, it’s his time now. He has the platform to to push an agenda that suits him. The self-hatred he feels at the hands of the people who look like him and rejected him, Terry Crews embraces a narrative against the very people he should stand with.
Terry Crews is an embarrassment. His wife should be embarrassed and I only hope that his children are embarrassed enough to read, educate themselves and be better than their dad.
Whew, I’m tired. This post was draining. LOL. All in All …
BLACK LIVES MATTER!
Blissfully Single and Yours,
