The professional summary or career profile, also includes the resume objective statement. The objective statement is important because it shows the potential employer the value you’d bring to their company.
Tips for Writing a Professional Summary
- Optimize Your Professional Summary: Create an ATS friendly resume. Most companies use applicant tracking software (ATS) to select resumes that get to the interview stage. Creating an ATS friendly resumes means that your resume includes keywords the position calls for.
- List Accomplishments: Use the professional summary section of your resume to highlight your accomplishments. If you have organizational skills, instead of simply stating you have organizational skills, write how those skills benefited your prior employers.
