Remembering The Vacation

COVID-19 has us remembering so many things we once took for granted. The change in the world and how we operate is clear – sobering, even.

A simple outing, like brunch, is now a luxury. During these times of quarantine, I remember the vacation.

June is a special month for me as my birthday and both of my children’s birthdays all fall within the month. This is our typical vacation time. So to be in a space where we can’t travel is one that is hard to come to terms with. A vacation is important, but now, COVID-19 has essentially taken that from us.

The Importance of a Vacation

We work so hard. It feels as if every morning, we hit the ground running and we don’t stop until bedtime. A vacation is vital because it forces us to slow down. To decompress and really take the time to enjoy this experience known as life.

My last vacation was in Lake Lanier, GA. We stayed at the rather plush Chateau Elan Winery & Resort. Our days were spent in Margaritaville within the lake where the boys could enjoy waterslides. I stayed by the beach to enjoy drinks and the large screen playing music videos. The experience was perfect.

I’m remembering vacation time. Hopefully, those vacation days will return.
