Love and Marriage Huntsville
I’ve finished watching the second season of Love & Marriage Huntsville and what a GREAT show! Grateful for the producers over at the Oprah Winfrey Network for bringing this kind of quality programming to life.
I can honestly say that LAMH is my favorite show right now.
You know, in the age of reality television that is becoming less reality and more contrived and scripted; Love and Marriage Huntsville is so refreshing. You can tell the issues these couples are dealing with are quite real.
For instance, Kimmie. This lovely woman is recently married to Maurice.
The couple’s issues involve trying to make a blended family work with Maurice’s ex-wife Kiawah and a son Maurice and Kiawah share, Monster.
Now, Maurice drops the bomb on Kimmie that not only does he wants to move the ex-wife and her husband from Detroit to Huntsville so that he can be in the same city as his son Monster, but that he also has a house set up for his ex-wife and her husband to live in – RENT FREE! The hell?
Kimmie, feeling defeated, whispers, “I can’t do this” and then cries. You can feel the rawness of that moment. You feel so sad for Kimmie. So real, you can’t manufacture these moments.
Another scene that comes to mind is when Martell, the cheater of a husband, runs up on his wife Mel on her way to do a podcast. The producers weren’t ready and had to quickly sprint over to the couple to get footage; another real, but funny moment.
My point is, Love and Marriage Huntsville captures the complexities of hardships of marriage in such a genuine way. I enjoyed the season and hope to see the cast for a Season 3. You can catch Love and Marriage Huntsville on OWN on Demand.
