Easy Pesto Basil Recipe
It’s a hot and humid day in NY and I’m fighting the urge to call out from work. It really is a perfect a Sunday. I’m spending the day enjoying Black programming on TV One. I’m looking forward for night fall so that I can see the brightness of the solar string lights that I put up around my gazebo. Well, until I decide what to do about going to work tonight, the sudden urge for pesto basil creeps up on me. Plus, it’s time to to prune the basil I have growing in the yard.
I fell in love with pesto several years ago during a work dinner. I remember I was starving and the only thing on the table was warm bread and pesto. As soon as I dipped the bread into the pesto and took a bite – I was in love. I’ve been on a mission to grow basil every year so that I can make pesto basil on a whim. Today happens to be such a whim.
Basil is a bright green sauce made with of course green herb or vegetable (typically basil), olive oil, pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. Pesto’s origins are from Italy. Pesto is great as a dip or as a topping for pasta or chicken. There are actually tons of pesto on chicken and pasta recipes. My opinion? Pesto is great on anything: chips, veggies, mozzarella cheese, bread. The possibilities are limitless.

Types of Pesto
While the most common type pesto made with basil, there are several types of pesto you can make and enjoy. These include:
- Kale
- Spinach
- Arugula
- Garlic
- Watercress
- Avocado
- Parsley
- Broccoli
- Chives
Easy Pesto Recipe
